FAQs

1. Why do my storage shelves start to sag over time?

Shelves often sag when they’re carrying more weight than they were designed to support, or when heavy items are placed in the centre instead of near the frame. Humidity and long-term pressure can also weaken certain materials like MDF. Spreading weight evenly and staying within the recommended limits helps prevent sagging.

2. What type of items should i store on open storage shelves?

Open storage shelves are ideal for books, decor pieces, plants, baskets, and everyday essentials you want quick access to. They work well for items that don’t require dust protection and are visually tidy. Avoid placing overly heavy or bulky objects unless the shelves are designed for them.

3. Can storage shelves be used in bathrooms or damp areas?

Some storage shelves can be used in damp areas, but it depends on the material. Metal or coated finishes handle humidity better, while MDF and particleboard may swell or warp. If used in a bathroom, ensure good ventilation and keep the shelves away from direct water exposure.

4. What is the best height for storage shelves in a living space?

The ideal height depends on how you plan to use the shelves and the size of the room. Lower units work well beside seating or under windows, while taller shelves maximise vertical storage without taking up extra floor space. Choose a height that allows comfortable access and doesn’t block light or movement.
