Workshop Equipment
Workshop Equipment: Choose the Right Tools for Your Workspace
Workbenches and Saw Horses: Fixed or Foldable?
Our workbenches and trestles include fixed garage workbenches, portable folding work tables, adjustable saw horses and clamping workbenches. The right design depends on your available space and the work you need to support.
- Fixed workbenches: Suitable for a dedicated garage or workshop. Selected HOMCOM models feature a 110 x 60cm work surface, pegboard, drawers, LED lighting and built-in power outlets. Check the worktop load limit separately from the total frame capacity.
- Folding workbenches: Useful for occasional DIY or smaller workspaces. Some HOMCOM models offer adjustable working heights from 85-114cm, tilting worktops and clamping pegs for holding workpieces.
- Saw horses and trestle stands: Provide temporary support for timber, boards and other suitable materials. Available pairs include models rated at 100kg or 125kg. Confirm whether the stated load applies to each stand or the complete set.
- Clamping workbenches: Adjustable worktop sections and clamping pegs help secure smaller or irregularly shaped workpieces. Check the maximum clamping width and worktop dimensions.
Buying tip: A workbench's total load rating is not necessarily the weight its tabletop can support. For example, one HOMCOM 110cm workbench lists an overall capacity of 272kg but a separate 100kg desktop limit. Always use the relevant load rating for the surface or component being loaded.
Mitre Saw Stands and Roller Supports for Long Materials
A mitre saw stand provides a mounting platform for a compatible mitre saw, while roller stands support long pieces of timber or other suitable materials as they move through a cutting or processing station.
- Mitre saw stands: Selected HOMCOM folding stands support up to 150kg and include adjustable roller supports for longer workpieces. Confirm that your saw's mounting holes and base dimensions are compatible.
- Adjustable roller stands: Useful when working with long boards, timber and panels. Selected models adjust from 68-110cm high, allowing the roller to align with the working surface.
- Support capacity: Check the maximum load and whether it changes with the stand's height. For example, one HOMCOM roller stand supports up to 90kg at its lowest position but 60kg at maximum height.
- Portability: Folding legs and compact frames make portable stands easier to store and transport between work areas.
A roller stand supports the material, not the cutting machine itself. Set the support at the correct height and follow the saw manufacturer's instructions for securing and handling long workpieces.
Tool Carts and Workshop Trolleys: Storage or Transport?
Our tool carts and trolleys include three-tier workshop carts, tool trolleys with drawers, folding hand trucks and six-wheel stair-climbing trolleys. Choose according to whether you need to organise tools or move heavy items.
- Three-tier tool carts: Open shelves keep frequently used equipment accessible. One HOMCOM plastic workshop cart supports up to 91kg and includes four castors, two with brakes.
- Tool trolleys with drawers: Better suited to storing smaller hand tools, fixings and accessories. Selected DURHAND and HOMCOM models include drawers, pegboards or locking castors.
- Folding hand trucks: Suitable for moving boxes and workshop supplies. Available HOMCOM designs include 70kg, 75kg and 120kg load ratings. Check the platform dimensions and wheel type as well as capacity.
- Six-wheel stair-climbing trolleys: Designed to help transport suitable loads over steps. Some DURHAND models have a 120kg capacity on level ground but only 80kg on stairs.
Buying tip: A trolley rated for 120kg on flat ground may have a lower limit for stair climbing. Measure stair width and check the stated stair-load capacity, wheel clearance and handling instructions before purchasing.
Retractable Air Hose Reels for Workshop Compressors
Keep compressed air hoses organised with retractable hose reels. The range includes selected 10m, 15m and 20m models with automatic rewind systems, wall-mounting brackets and adjustable hose locking positions.
- Hose length: Measure the distance between your air compressor and the furthest workstation. Allow extra length for routing around benches and other equipment.
- Hose diameter: Selected DURHAND models use a 3/8-inch (9.5mm) hose. Diameter can affect airflow and should be matched to your pneumatic equipment's requirements.
- Connector type: Check BSP or BSPT thread sizes, air fittings and compressor compatibility. Similar-looking connectors are not always interchangeable.
- Operating pressure: Confirm the maximum rated working pressure of the entire hose and fitting assembly. Do not select a reel solely by its advertised pressure figure.
- Mounting: Some retractable reels include 180-degree swivel brackets to allow movement between different working positions. Check fixing requirements and available clearance.
A retractable air hose reel is intended for compatible pneumatic applications. Do not use it with pressure washers, liquids or other systems unless the manufacturer explicitly confirms compatibility.
Other Workshop Equipment: Heaters, Lifts and Welding Carts
Our other workshop equipment range includes specialist items for selected maintenance and garage tasks.
- Industrial fan heaters: Outsunny offers 2800W and 5000W ceramic fan heater models. Check voltage, electrical connection and ventilation requirements. The 5000W model requires a 380-400V three-phase industrial supply and is not compatible with a standard UK household socket.
- Ride-on mower jack lifts: A folding HOMCOM lift has a stated 400kg maximum capacity and an adjustable lifting angle. Check the machine's weight, wheel spacing and supported lifting method. Never work underneath equipment supported solely by an unsecured lifting device.
- Welding carts: DURHAND welding trolleys provide shelves for compatible welding equipment and chains for securing gas cylinders. Selected models support up to 50kg. Check the machine dimensions, cylinder arrangement and load limit.
Frequently Asked Questions About Workshop Equipment
Can two saw horses support twice the weight of one stand?
Not automatically. Some saw horses are sold in pairs with a combined load rating, while other products specify capacity per stand. Load distribution, stand spacing and the supported material also affect safe use. Check the manufacturer's stated capacity for the exact arrangement and never assume two supports double the permitted load.
How do I choose the correct height for a roller stand?
Set the roller level with the machine's work-support surface, following the equipment manufacturer's instructions. A stand that is too high or too low may interfere with material movement. Check the adjustable height range and load rating, especially when supporting longer or heavier workpieces.
Does a mitre saw stand include the saw?
Usually not. A mitre saw stand is a support structure for a separately purchased compatible saw. Check the package contents, mounting bracket dimensions, maximum load capacity and supported saw types before ordering.
What does 15m + 1.4m mean on an air hose reel?
On applicable DURHAND retractable reels, this indicates a 15m main air hose and an approximately 1.4m connection hose. The shorter section connects the reel to the air supply and does not add to the full working reach of the main hose. Check both lengths when planning the installation.
Can I plug a 5000W workshop heater into a normal UK socket?
Not the Outsunny 5000W industrial fan heater listed in this range. It requires a 380-400V three-phase electrical supply with a compatible industrial connection. Check the voltage and plug specifications before purchasing, and have suitable electrical installations assessed by a qualified electrician.
What should I check before buying a workshop trolley?
Check the total weight capacity, shelf or drawer limits, castor brakes, trolley dimensions and available working space. For transporting heavy boxes, compare hand trucks rather than ordinary storage carts. For stair climbing, confirm the separate stair-load rating and the suitability of the staircase and load.
